THE FUTURE OF TERRORISM

Battles have been fought since the beginning of time and victory has always been achieved by conquering your opponent and/ or occupying his land. “Who ever kills the most and holds the most land wins”  One man gets killed you replace him with another, until you run out or  the other side runs out and is  forced to capitulate with terms. Very basic, brutal and very effective. However, these changing times, bring changing tactics like we have never witnessed. The concept is called “Unrestricted Warfare”.

• Financial Warfare :( a country is subjugated with out a drop of blood being spilled) entering and subverting banking and stock markets and manipulating the value of a targeted currency.
• Smuggling Warfare: sabotaging a rival country’s economy by flooding its markets with illegal goods, and jeopardizing a local economy by flooding the market with pirated products.
• Cultural Warfare: influencing the cultural biases of a targeted country by imposing your own cultural viewpoints.
• Drug Warfare: flooding illicit drugs across national borders and breaking down the fabric of society through their use.
• Media and Fabrication Warfare: manipulating foreign media, either by compromising or intimidating journalists or getting access to another country’s airwaves and imposing your own national perspective.
• Technological Warfare: (creating monopolies by setting standards independently) gaining control of or having an edge in particular vital technologies that can be used in both peace and wartime.
• Resource Warfare: gaining control of scarce natural resources and being able to control or manipulate their access and market value.
• Psychological Warfare: imposing one’s national interest by dominating a rival nation’s perception of its own strength and weaknesses.
• Network Warfare: (venturing out in secret and concealing one’s identity in a type of warfare that is virtually impossible to guard against) dominating or subverting transnational information systems.
• International Law Warfare: joining international or multinational organizations in order to subvert their policies and the interpretation of legal rulings.
• Environmental Warfare: weakening or subjugating a rival nation by despoiling or altering its natural environment.
• Economical Aid Warfare: controlling a targeted country through aid dependency.

The Chinese believe one day they will face the U.S in War, and it’s only a matter of time before this happens. Well, two Chinese officers (Col. Qiano Liang and Wang Xiangusui) began developing doctrine on how to defeat the U.S. in battle and labeled this concept "Unrestricted Warfare". And by sheer coincidence this manual fell into the hands of Al-Qaida and the Taliban, and it is strongly believed the idea of flying airplanes into buildings came from the Chinese.

What are good friend to the East fails to understand is the U.S. is a veteran of an “Unrestricted War” we called it the Cold War and one only needs to look at the condition of the Soviet Union post Cold War; Soviet Union collapses, the economy is bankrupt, separatist movements and violent uprising spreads and begins forming new countries (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine, just to name a few). Billions of dollars worth of naval vessels are idle literally rusting in place. And as we read this remember the Russians are still fighting the Chechens!

I would like to stress that we are involved in a Global War on Terrorism that spans the globe and more countries are involved than we probably ever imagined.
